Newbold Jr, Robert Lee (Vietnam Crew)

Robert Lee Newbold, Jr., 67 of Pensacola, FL died Wednesday, April 24, 2013.

Robert was born on March 24, 1946 in Miami, FL. He graduated from Palmetto High School in 1964. After graduation he served in the United States Coast Guard where he served aboard the Sebago during a tour of Vietnam. After his discharge from the U S Coast Guard he worked for Gulf Power for 20 years. He was a graduate of the University of West Florida with a BS degree in Political Science. Robert was a member of First Baptist Church, Pensacola. He taught Sunday School, led Royal Ambassadors and served as Camp Counselor for many years at the church. He loved. He loved working and playing with the children while teaching of God’s love for them.

Robert was also a youth baseball and soccer coach for many years. One of his greatest joys was coaching his son’s soccer teams.

His parents, Robert and Lila Newbold preceded him in death.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Kathy McBryde Newbold; daughter, Janie Walker (Chris) of Pensacola; son, Robert Newbold (Amy) of Acworth, GA; two grandsons, Andrew Walker of Pensacola and Jonathan Newbold of Acworth, GA; one granddaughter, Anna Newbold of Acworth, GA; sister Laurel Sheffield (Ralph) of Woodstock, GA; brothers, Chris Newbold of Spanish Fort, AL and Evan Newbold of Atlanta, GA.

Visitation will be 12noon until the Memorial Service at 1:00pm Friday, May 10, 2013 in the Pleitz Chapel of First Baptist Church with Dr. Barry Howard officiating. Inurnment of his cremains will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery with Coast Guard honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Pensacola, Children’s Ministry, 500 N. Palafox, Pensacola, FL 32501.
